TheNewMedia Byte for NewWeek - 12/19/11

1. Google releases a video on what the world googgled in 2011. It wraps up the news of the whole year. The human population touched 7 billion this year. Osama-Bin-Laden was shot dead by the US army. The Royal Wedding of Britain was a part of 2011. RIP Steve Jobs and more is shown in the video. Its time to say bye to 2011.

2. Facebook has launched a new feature which enables the fans of the brand to send a private message to the page. Only the fans can initiate the conversation with the pages. This way no communication will be lost between brand and consumers. This might reduce the visibility in the news feed. When any fan writes on the brand page, it shows in the news feed and all the people on the person's network are able to see it. This gives publicity to the brands. If the fans start using this feature more then the brand's visibility will suffer. As of now this feature is opt-in for the admins and the page-owners.
