Human psychology behind social media's success

Its a need for humans to be popular and liked by a large group of people. You might not want to talk to many people but messaging is a good way of keeping relationships alive. You are connected to the whole world by just logging onto the social media networks. You don't really have to talk to everyone but you are still connected.

This video was released in 1992 when there was no social media but Jerry Seinfeld takes the example of the phone answering machine to explain the human psychology. Apparently, social media seems to be a success for the same reasons. Enjoy this video.
